When we first created Forest Hillside, it began as a simple dream — to share our little piece of Southland with others.
A place to slow down, breathe deeply, and step away from busy everyday life.
Our Lotus Belle Mahal quickly became the heart of it all — a shared hub and sleeping tent where guests gathered, laughed, relaxed, and created memories beneath canvas and stars.
Within no time we realised Forest Hillside was ready to evolve into something even more special.
From 1 October 2026, the Mahal will transform into Belle Retreat — a dedicated communal lodge designed purely for connection, relaxation, dining, and shared experiences.
Alongside this new chapter, we’re welcoming four beautifully styled private retreats

Additional guest rates apply beyond base occupancy at $70pp
These new retreats are Lotus Belle Stargazer Tents, designed to bring guests closer to nature — where you truly sleep beneath the stars.
Unlike our original powered glamping tents, these retreats are intentionally off-grid, creating a quieter, more immersive experience.
Each tent will be thoughtfully prepared with:

✨ Warm premium bedding and layered textiles
✨ Comfortable flooring underfoot
✨ Soft solar lighting and ambient battery lanterns
The result is a cosy, atmospheric stay where evenings slow down, lanterns glow softly, and the night sky becomes part of your experience.

Forest Hillside is not becoming a campground.
