When we first created Forest Hillside in October 2025, it began as a simple dream — to share our little piece of Southland with others.

A place to slow down, breathe deeply, and step away from busy everyday life.

Our Lotus Belle Mahal quickly became the heart of it all — a shared hub and sleeping tent where guests gathered, laughed, relaxed, and created memories beneath canvas and stars.

Within no time we realised Forest Hillside was ready to evolve into something even more special.

From 1 October 2026, the Mahal will transform into Belle Retreat — a dedicated communal lodge designed purely for connection, relaxation, dining, and shared experiences.

Alongside this transformation, four beautifully styled 6m Belle Tents will welcome guests for the season ahead, each offering a private and cosy space to relax and sleep.

Forest Hillside will continue to be offered as an exclusive-use retreat, meaning each booking enjoys private access to the entire property — the retreats, communal spaces, and surrounding grounds all to themselves.

This evolution allows us to enhance comfort and experience while preserving what makes Forest Hillside special, privacy, connection, and the feeling of having your own secluded escape.
